Getting started

Where is ToNotch after I install it?

At the top centre of your screen. Hover over the notch to open it, or press Ctrl+Alt+Space. ToNotch keeps running in the tray when the panel is closed.

How do I keep the panel open?

Click the notch bar or the pin button. Press Esc to close it again.

Can I change my setup later?

Yes. In Settings, choose Run setup again. Your tasks and events stay as they are.

Slack previews

Previews don't appear

Turn on Slack previews in Settings, then choose Connect on the Notifications tab and allow access when Windows asks. Also check that Slack's own notifications are on and that Windows Focus isn't hiding them.

Some messages are missing

ToNotch only sees notifications Windows is still holding. Messages that never showed a Windows notification, older history and cleared notifications aren't available.

Opening a preview opens Slack, not the message

Windows doesn't share a notification's link with other apps. ToNotch opens the exact message only when the preview text includes a Slack message link.

Reminders

I didn't get a reminder

ToNotch has to be running, so check the tray. Windows Focus can silence notifications. A due date alone doesn't create a reminder; set a reminder time. Reminders missed while your PC was asleep arrive together when it wakes.

How do I start ToNotch when I sign in?

Turn on Launch at Windows sign-in in Settings. If Windows has disabled it, re-enable ToNotch in Windows Settings under Apps, then Startup.

Shortcuts and display

My keyboard shortcut doesn't work

Another app may already use it. Pick a different one in Settings.

Can I show ToNotch on another monitor?

Choose the display in Settings. If that monitor is disconnected, ToNotch moves back to your main display.

Your data

How do I move my workspace to another PC?

Use Export backup in Settings, then Import backup on the other PC.

How do I delete everything?

Uninstall ToNotch from Windows Settings. That removes the app and its data. See the privacy policy for details.

Windows 10 version 2004 or later, or Windows 11, on a 64-bit PC. Slack previews need the Slack desktop app.
