Privacy policy
Effective November 8, 2026, for ToNotch for Windows 1.0 and later
ToNotch keeps everything on your PC. It has no accounts, analytics, ads or cloud sync, and it never sends your data to us or anyone else.
Who we are
ToNotch is published by Mystech Solutions. Questions about this policy can be sent to solutionsmystech@gmail.com.
What ToNotch stores on your PC
ToNotch saves what you create in one file in its app data folder, with a backup copy beside it. The file holds:
- Your tasks, notes, libraries and reminder times
- Your calendar events
- Your settings, such as the shortcut, display and daily summary
- The locations of your favourite apps and your project folder
- Which reminders have already been shown, so none repeat after a restart
This file never leaves your PC unless you export a backup to a place you choose. Backups never include Slack previews.
Slack previews
Slack previews are off by default. They only work after you turn them on and allow notification access when Windows asks.
- Windows notification access covers all apps. ToNotch checks which app sent each notification and ignores everything not from Slack.
- For Slack notifications, ToNotch shows the title, preview text and time that Windows provides.
- Previews are kept in memory only. They are never saved, backed up or sent anywhere, and quitting ToNotch clears them.
- ToNotch doesn't sign in to Slack and can't read your Slack history.
- Dismissing a preview in ToNotch also removes it from Windows.
You can turn previews off in ToNotch settings, or remove access in Windows Settings under Privacy & security, then Notifications.
Other things ToNotch reads
- Project folder: the names of the folders inside the folder you choose. Files inside them are never opened.
- Brave profiles: profile names, so you can pick one. Never your history, cookies or passwords.
- Installed apps: the usual install locations of Cursor, VS Code, Slack and Brave, so ToNotch can open them.
What we don't do
ToNotch has no sign-in, analytics, crash reporting or advertising. It makes no network requests of its own and only opens links or apps when you ask. We never receive your information, so we can't sell or share it.
Microsoft may collect information when you download apps from the Microsoft Store. The Microsoft Privacy Statement covers that.
Windows permissions
ToNotch runs as a full-trust desktop app so it can stay on top of other windows, sit in the tray, respond to its keyboard shortcut, open the apps and folders you choose, and run its notification helper. Notification access is a separate permission that you can refuse; everything else still works. Starting at sign-in is off until you turn it on.
Deleting your data
Completed non-recurring tasks are automatically deleted from the workspace 30 days after completion. Reopening a task cancels its deletion countdown. Recurring tasks are retained. Existing completed tasks without a recorded completion date receive a full 30-day countdown when first opened by this version. Recovery backups and exported files may still contain previously deleted tasks.
Delete tasks, events and libraries inside the app. Uninstalling ToNotch removes the app and its data folder. Exported backups are ordinary files you control.
Security
Your data file is protected by your Windows account like your other files. The notification helper talks to ToNotch through private pipes, not over a network.
Children
ToNotch doesn't collect information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes
If our data practices change, we will update this page and its date before releasing that version.
